Will there be an update available via Joomla to show that there is a new version with a changelog? At this point you have to do it manually.

Yes. JoomLeague now uses the standard Joomla extension update system, including the release changelog.
The update-server metadata has been corrected and the upgrade path from JoomLeague 6.2.0-dev7 to 6.2.0-beta1 has been tested successfully without losing existing data or settings.
JoomLeague 6.2.0-beta2 has now been published. Installations configured to receive beta updates can discover it through System → Update → Extensions and install it directly from Joomla administration.
